SHEIKH ROHAIL ASGHAR OF PML-N said that in the past the media used to confirm the source of the news before reporting it. He said that military and political both the governments fostered the corruption in the media. He said that the campaign run against ISI after the attack on Hamid Mir is pitiful.
He said that the media anchors make the politicians fight in their talk shows for the sake of rating but the politicians should avoid it. He said that if someone makes any mistake in the talk shows he should later apologize about it. He said that if the way of confirmation of the news is adopted no complication will arise. He said that no media house should be shut down instead a solution should be searched.
NISAR KHORRO OF PPPP said that as long there is no fighting in the talk shows their rating stay low. He said that the self censorship on media was also under consideration. He said that if self censorship would have been there no campaign against ISI was going to be run in the media.
He said that media is also defaming the people like suo moto notice of the SC. He said that he is happy that media is free now but it should not malign anybody.
SHAFQAT MAHMOOD OF PTI said that it is the history of south Asia that whoever gets the freedom abuse it. He said that judiciary, media and politicians whoever got the freedom crossed all the boundaries. He said that ever since the media became stronger the politicians want their statements to be shown prominently. He said that as politicians try to drive the media according to their wishes it makes the journalists corrupt. He said that there should be no ban on the freedom of the media but it should be made responsible. He said that it took so long to earn the freedom of media but it should be balanced. He said that media people along with other responsible of the society should design some ethics for the media to follow. He said that whoever tries to humiliate anybody should be answerable to someone.
