TOPIC- ELECTRICITY PRICES AND SURCHARGES

KAMIL ALI AGHA OF PML-Q said that the oil prices have fell down 26% in the international market whereas the government is going to impose rupees 0.53 surcharge on electricity. He said that the government is charging rupees 22 extra on petrol as compare to the prices in the international market.
He said that the beaurocracy is doing it all and the government is not getting it they do not have any control. He said that the electricity meters are set 35 % faster for the consumers. He said that the electricity in next three years will be so expensive that nobody will be able to use it.
ABID SHER ALI OF PML-N said that NEPRA has prepared the summary of rupees 0.53 surcharge but the government has not taken any decision on it as yet. He said that the government has not increased the prices but has withdrawn the subsidy on electricity prices. He said that the government has audited the over billing of electricity by three companies. He said that the government has more than five hundred billion receivable from the provinces as electricity charges.
He said that the previous governments have done nothing and all the blames are being put against his government.
He said that the government has paid rupees 15 billion as interest on Nandipur project.
He said that the short fall of the electricity will be covered in next three years.
SAEED GHANI OF PPPP said that circular debt was five hundred billion when PPPP took the government and it remained the same when they left. He said that the petrol prices should come down because the government itself has formed the formula to set the prices.
He said that PM own team has reported that electricity meters are faster from 30 to 35 % than the normal speed.
He said that the government completed Nandipur project in unnecessary haste and now is unable to run it.
